Radio Contesting and Preparedness
KF0CJA – Haven’t done any contesting myself, but any time you practice with equipment it’s valuable and get more familiar with equipment and try it out in various locations. Plan to try radios in various locations on alternate power.
N0KMO – Amatuer radio has lots of opportunity to try different things. Go out and throw up an antenna, will be doing some travel and practicing with various equipment.
KF0OTE – Fairly new Ham, used ICOM rig, excited to try field day and first go around to reach out for distance. Likes to be prepared and hopes to learn a lot.
N0KMO – Field day is all about trying equipment and trying to reach out. Field day story: Got to field day event with new equiepment and everything set up. Tried it out and no one could hear. Pulled out antenna tuner and it worked out great. All about trying equipment and tweeking when necessary on the fly.
