To further enjoy the amateur radio hobby, and socialize with our local amateur operators. As well as practice useful skills in radio direction finding. Please as always use your best judgment and safe practices in finding the hidden transmitter. The goal is to enjoy your hunt.
Date: Sunday, August 1st
Time:Start 9:00 am MST – End 1:00pm
Frequency: 146.565 MHz.
Power: 1 Watt main transmitter / 15 mW micro transmitter
What the transmitter sounds like:
Main transmitter will be a musical series of tones. Followed by my call sign in Morse code
The micro transmitter will be my call sign N0CFM repeatedly in Morse code.
Time of transmitter :
1.5 minutes on 3.5 minutes off. With ( hopefully ) the two transmitters not overlapping.
The transmitters will be within the boundary lines.
- North boundary: A line starting at the corner of US 287 and West Colorado Road 4 extending west to Lyons
- West boundary: Approximately US 36
- South boundary: Neva Road / Niwot Road
- East boundary: US 287
Playing area is roughly 9 miles horizontal X 12 miles vertical. Roughly 108 square miles.
Check in Repeater/Frequency:
145.475 MHz – (100 Hz tone) we will test to see if this repeater has coverage in the playing area. If not new repeater details or simplex will be changed.
This repeater is for prehunt check ins as well as general communications during the hunt. Check ins will start 15 minutes before the hunt.
NOTE: The transmitter will be located in a publicly accessible location with a restroom.
